Overview

Dr. Mian Nadeem Riaz joined Texas A&M University in 1992 and made significant contributions to the institution’s Food Protein R&D Center. Initially appointed to lead the Food and Feed Extrusion Program at TEES, Dr. Riaz later became the head of the Extrusion Program and a valued member of the Graduate Faculty in the Food Science and Technology Program.

Recognized for his exceptional leadership and expertise, Dr. Riaz served as the Director of the Food Protein R&D Center from 2005 to March 31, 2020. During this time, he oversaw groundbreaking research and innovation in food protein and process engineering, contributing to the center’s distinction as a global leader in the field. In 2016, the center’s name was changed to the Process Engineering R&D Center, reflecting its expanded focus and influence under Professor Riaz’s guidance.

Continuing his commitment to advancing the field of extrusion, Professor Riaz currently serves as the Director of Extrusion Technology at Texas A&M University. Through the Professional & Continuing Education program offered by the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station, Extrusion Technology Program, he organizes five specialized courses annually, providing participants with invaluable knowledge and practical skills in the realm of extrusion.

These comprehensive courses cover various aspects of extrusion technology, with a specific emphasis on pet food/feed and food extrusion. With three courses dedicated to pet food/feed extrusion and two courses focused on food extrusion, participants gain a deep understanding of the principles, techniques, and applications in these specialized areas. Professor Riaz’s wealth of experience and expertise in extrusion technology ensures that participants receive top-notch education and training, equipping them with the tools to excel in their respective fields.
